Brachialis Muscle Strain

Brachialis attaches to the ulnar underneath the biceps muscle. It is used constantly in all climbing movements acting as a stabiliser where a “lock off” is used or a prime mover in bending the elbow. It is a commonly injured muscle when using sloper holds in compression moves on arretes and gritstone top outs. With a Brachialis muscle strain, pain is felt just above the elbow joint. In more severe strains, swelling and/ or bruising may be present.
